Harvest these tender green leaves for fresh cilantro, but allow the plants to flower to attract beneficial insects and produce coriander seeds. Cilantro is a cool season plant and tends to bolt when the weather gets hot. Start these plants early in the spring and plant in succession every few weeks to extend the harvest season.
Where to plant :: Plant cilantro in an an area with full sun and moist, fertile soil.
When to start inside :: Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before your last frost date.
When to sow outside :: Directly sow or transplant cilantro in spring after the last frost. In warm climates you can plant again in late summer for a fall harvest.
